Master the Art of Wingfoiling in the Algarve’s Best Training Grounds
Wingfoiling is the fastest-growing watersport in the world for a reason—it’s pure freedom. Combining the power of a wing with the silence of a hydrofoil, you’ll experience the sensation of flying over the Atlantic.
At EA Kite Lagos, we don't just teach you; we ensure you learn in the most efficient and safe environment possible.
Why Learn With Us? The Lagoon Advantage
While many schools head to the open beaches, we take you to the Ria de Alvor Lagoon. In Lagos, summer winds are typically "offshore" (blowing away from the beach), which can be intimidating for beginners.
Our Lagoon sessions offer:
-
Total Safety: A protected, enclosed environment with no risk of drifting out to sea.
-
Perfect Flat Water: No waves or shore-break to fight. This allows you to focus 100% on your wing control and foiling balance.
-
Shallow Success: With waist-deep water, you can stand up, reset your gear, and receive direct feedback from your instructor without treading water.
-
-
Your Journey: From Zero to Flying (Step-by-Step)
-
Learning to wingfoil is an evolution. Our lessons are structured to ensure you never feel overwhelmed:
-
The Basics: We start with wing handling on the sand to understand how to power and depower the wing.
-
The Taxi Phase: On the water in the calm lagoon, you’ll learn to sail across the wind while staying on your knees or standing, mastering direction.
-
The Lift-Off: Once you have board speed, we teach you how to shift your weight to engage the foil.
-
Sustained Flight: The "Magic Moment"—finding the balance to stay leveled and fly silently over the water.
-
Safety-First Equipment
-
We invest in specialized "Learn-to-Fly" gear designed to make your first experience painless and fun:
-
High-Volume "Big" Boards: We use stable, wide boards with plenty of buoyancy. You don't need to be an athlete or have "perfect" fitness; these boards float exceptionally well, allowing you to focus on the wing without struggling to stay upright.
-
Short Masts for Maximum Safety: Unlike advanced riders who use long masts, we use short masts for beginners. This ensures that if you fall, the foil stays deep in the water and cannot "breach" or come near the surface, keeping you safe at all times.
-
Comfortable Gear: Every student is provided with a high-quality wetsuit, a buoyancy aid, and a helmet.
-
When to Visit: Wingfoiling All Year Round
-
While many think of Lagos as a summer-only destination, wingfoiling here is a year-round sport.
-
The Summer (May – September): This is the season of the Nortada. You can expect the highest frequency of windy days, with the thermal breeze kicking in almost every afternoon.
-
The "Off-Season" (October – April): Don’t rule out the winter! While there are fewer windy days per month, the wind during this time is often more steady and consistent than the summer thermals. With a slightly thicker wetsuit, you can enjoy some of the best, smoothest sessions of the year with fewer crowds in the lagoon.
